Türkiye “Bridging Land and Sea” Strengthens Sustainability and International Collaboration 🌍
From 09 to 13 February 2026, the Erasmus+ KA220-SCH project Connected Minds, United Actions: Digital and Peer Collaboration for Inclusion and Sustainability successfully carried out the Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA) “Bridging Land and Sea” in İzmir, Türkiye. The five-day international mobility brought together students and teachers from six European partner countries for an intensive programme focused on sustainability, inclusion, peer learning, and digital collaboration.
Hosted by Buca Anadolu Lisesi in İzmir, the mobility created an interactive learning environment where participants explored environmental responsibility through practical activities, intercultural exchange, and collaborative projects. Schools from Romania, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Czechia, and Türkiye participated in the programme, strengthening European cooperation and building connections between students and educators from different cultural backgrounds.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in a wide range of educational activities related to water resources, marine ecosystems, and environmental sustainability. Workshops and discussions focused on topics such as sea pollution prevention, biodiversity protection, and sustainable environmental practices. Students also learned about local authority initiatives aimed at protecting marine environments and promoting ecological awareness within local communities.
One of the most impactful activities of the mobility was the seaside cleaning initiative, where participants actively contributed to environmental protection through community action. This hands-on experience encouraged students to reflect on their personal responsibility toward nature while promoting teamwork, civic engagement, and sustainable habits.
The programme also connected sustainability with creativity and cultural heritage. During the Upcycling Artwork Workshop, students transformed collected recyclable materials into a collaborative mural and artistic installation. The activity demonstrated how waste materials can be creatively reused while promoting environmental awareness through art. The collaborative artwork symbolized unity, sustainability, and the shared commitment of all partner schools to protecting the environment. Each participating school will further adapt and implement the upcycling concept locally after returning home.
Teacher collaboration formed another important dimension of the mobility. Two dedicated teacher meetings provided opportunities for project coordination, exchange of educational practices, evaluation of ongoing activities, and planning of future project steps. These meetings strengthened communication and cooperation among partner institutions and supported the long-term quality implementation of the project.
Beyond educational activities, the LTTA also promoted intercultural understanding, friendship, and European identity. Students and teachers had the opportunity to share experiences, traditions, and perspectives while working together toward common sustainability goals. Through collaborative learning and peer interaction, participants developed communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and digital skills essential for active participation in modern society.
The mobility concluded with an official closing ceremony during which students received Europass Mobility Documents and teachers were awarded Attendance Certificates, recognizing their active participation and achievements throughout the programme.
The LTTA “Bridging Land and Sea” represented a significant milestone in the Connected Minds, United Actions project by successfully combining sustainability education, inclusion, creativity, and international collaboration into a meaningful and inspiring European learning experience.
